We have another inbox! Yes, since the integration with Facebook messaging for business pages was launched on mobile as well as the desktop we are finding ourselves constantly at the beck and call of people asking us questions. This is great, but sometimes you have not always got the time to answer them there and then, which is why this feature of turning your “out of office” on, or adding an instant reply to someone who has messaged your page is a brilliant idea.
Note: to make these alterations you will need to have full admin rights to your page (not editor)
Here is a simple guide to activate your Facebook messages.
Step 1 – Click > settings
Step 2 – Click > messages
Step 3 – Type your out of office hours.
You only have 250 characters to play with, so make sure that the message in punchy. In addition, you will need to add your office opening hours (if you have not yet done so, then you can find these on the page info tab on the “about” section).
Step 4 – Activate the instant reply
Adding an auto responder or instant reply is also an extremely handy feature, especially if you do not live on Facebook. Sending the person a quick automated note to explain that you have seen their message and one of the team will be dealing with their query in due course.
