TikTok is getting on the AI trend!

They’ve been developing a new process that would enable you to create your own custom AI-generated profile images in-stream.

How does it work?
TikTok’s generative avatar process requires users to upload between 3 and 10 photos of themselves so TikTok’s system can then generate a range of variations and styles of avatar image.

The process walks you through how to upload your selfie images, including notes on how TikTok will use, and delete, any pictures that you send it.

YouTube announces new options to enable advertisers to tap into emerging music trends

YouTube has announced two new ad options that will better enable advertisers to tap into emerging music trends by placing your ads alongside popular music clips.

The first is titled ‘Gen Z Music’ which will enable brands to show their promotions alongside the latest trending music clips. Basically, it’s a trending music placement option, which will make it easier for brands to showcase their promotions in connection to the latest trending music clips.

YouTube’s also developing a new ‘Trending Music on Shorts’ offering, which will essentially provide the same placement opportunity within Shorts clips.

Instagram makes changes to how many links you can have in your bio

Do you get frustrated that you can only add one link to your bio?

Well, this is all about to change!

Instagram has launched one of its most requested feature updates, giving users the ability to add up to not one, not two but FIVE links in their IG bio, expanding on its capacity to drive traffic.

TikTok’s looking to take a stronger stance against climate change misinformation

...with the platform banning all content that undermines climate change!

The update moves the app into line with Pinterest and Twitter in outlawing climate change denial, as social media platforms look to do their part to maximise awareness and action.

TikTok explained that as of the 21st of April…

“They will begin to ramp up enforcement of a new climate change misinformation policy which removes climate change misinformation that undermines well-established scientific consensus, such as content denying the existence of climate change or the factors that contribute to it. As we do for all misinformation policies, we will work with independent fact-checking partners when applying this policy to help assess the accuracy of the content.”

The demise of BeReal?

The new kid on the block last year with a staggering 7.3 million active monthly users, it appears the hype around the one time photo sharing platform is slowing down. Currently the functionality is limited. You get a notification once per day to share what you’re doing, and outside of that, there’s not a heap of things you can do in the app – there are no enhanced engagement or usage features, or importantly, any significant opportunities for advertisers. But the platform is working on a “"Bonus BeReal.": where you can share two more BeReals a day when you post on time. Will this be enough to keep users engaged?

AI updates in Snapchat

Following reports from Snapchat that users are trying to “trick the chatbot into providing responses that do not conform to our guidelines,” the Social Media giant is introducing new tools that are meant to keep the AI’s responses in check. Most notably - an age filter and insights for parents.

The new age filter tells the chatbot its users’ birth dates and ensures it responds according to their age, the company said.

Are you fed up with hearing about Twitter Blue? Us too, but here is another update!

Although there has been a significant amount of criticism directed towards Twitter for their decision to remove blue checkmarks from verified profiles in the app, it appears that Elon Musk and his team are still moving forward with their subscription plans.

However, despite the change, the number of Twitter Blue subscribers hasn't risen as anticipated. Twitter has decided to prioritise tweets from paid profiles in both the primary 'For You' feed and tweet replies. Consequently, Twitter Blue subscribers, who make up just 0.26% of the platform's total user base, will now enjoy greater exposure for their tweets within the app.

Whatsapp adds new option for users to keep disappearing message

WhatsApp’s rolling out a new option that will enable users to keep disappearing messages in a chat thread, if the message sender approves.

Which seems to defeat the purpose – but maybe, there are times where something you send as a disappearing DM is of significant value to the recipient, and it’s fine if they keep it.
