Join Nicole, Kim, Molly and Mark as they discuss the latest social media news including updates to TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
Here are the snippets:
02:03 – Facebook is currently testing AI-generated stories based on your previously shared images. The aim is to get more people posting on stories and users are prompted to use the new advanced stories feature which creates a high-quality ready-made story using advanced photos and video data.
04:22 – Snapchat is updating it’s AI & AR features within chats, you can now ask the bot to write you a song, a poem – anything! AR lenses are also now available to users.
08:25 – YouTube adds a new reminder button for upcoming live streams. A ‘notify me’ call to action button for live streams, podcasts, and anything that’s going live. The aim is to help creators maximise viewers of their broadcasts by keeping fans fans updated on in-progress streams.
13:00 – LinkedIn is adding ID verification to combat fake accounts and bots. At the moment, it’s only in the US, but we imagine it will roll out further. Users will be able to provide Government ID to verify who they are and where they’re working is correct.
16:04 – Instagram is increasing the number of links you can add to your bio…you can up to 5 links!
18:03 – Microsoft drops Twitter from its social media management platform. There’s been no official reason yet, but we suspect it’s due to the updated API pricing structure.
23:27 – Snapchat has announced a new integration with Microsoft Teams, which will enable Teams users to add Snapchat AR effects to their faces during Teams meetings.
29:28 – TikTok becomes the latest social media app to ban climate denial and misinformation. The update moves the app into line with Pinterest and Twitter in outlawing climate change denial as social media platforms look to do their part to maximize awareness.
See you next week!
