Listicles DO NOT Work On LinkedIn

Listicles I was listening to a keynote presentation from the marketing team at LinkedIn (via Social Media Marketing World). They were talking about LinkedIn publisher and the type of content that works really well on this platform.

I was surprised to hear that listicles just do not work. People do not engage with them and they rarely click to read them. I write a lot of listicles, but my mindset has now changed slightly and perhaps I will avoid this type of content for the future (especially on LinkedIn).

What is a listicle?

In journalism and blogging, a listicle is a short-form of writing that uses a list as its thematic structure, but is fleshed out with sufficient copy to be published as an article. For example “Here are the 10 mistakes that people make with their social media marketing” or “Three tips for using LinkedIn”
