Facebook: How to Add a Legacy Contact to Your Facebook Profile

Facebook legacy video

A few weeks ago, someone I know who is extremely fit and healthy had a cardiac arrest whilst sitting at his desk.  He is 49 years old and it was totally unexpected.  A few weeks on, he is still with us but is now in a vegetative state due to lack of oxygen in the brain.  My point is, you never know when something like this is going to happen to you.

So what happens to your Facebook account when you are either no longer with us, or perhaps no longer to manage the account yourself?  Facebook will allow you to nominate a person who will be able to

  • Access your account and post on your behalf (as themselves, not as you).
  • They can change cover photo and your profile picture, but they can not read your messages.
  • They can accept or decline friend requests on your behalf
  • It’s a great way to keep everyone informed about your health.

I think this is something that everyone should implement straight away.
