GU Live Lunch – Ep 177
Join Christina and Kim to catch up on what headlines have been grabbing our attention the most; including Elon’s Grok!
Here are the snippets:
02:26 – LinkedIn has launched a new marketing campaign which focuses on the complexities of B2B marketing, and how people outside of the industry have no clue what we’re talking about. “No one gets what you do anyway” comes with some pretty funny interview-style clips from the “outsiders” perspective. Check them out at https://www.linkedin.com/business/mar….
07:47 – Christina reflects on her weekend at the Speak With Impact event with her good friend Harj Gahley. A three-day event which focuses on public speaking, how to overcome your fears, and teaches the participants the tools and structure you need to deliver an impactful talk from being on stage to recording a simple video for social media.
15:33 – An article released this week speculates that we may soon be able to order fast food within the TikTok app. Yes, really! You have to watch it to believe it!
20:45 – A small but useful update on Instagram; users can now see how a potential post will look on the grid. Once you have selected your photos and are taken to the filter stage, users will see a musical note icon and a grid icon. Click the grid icon to see how the post will look. We think this is a great little update for businesses that may have certain rules/patterns to how they want their grid to look.
22:05: Instagram will be allowing users to share a comment from a post directly to your story. This is a great way to create two-way engagement and we’re excited for this one!
23:38 – Facebook Reels are about to get an upgrade. Users will be able to use snippets of previous reels and videos to create or add to a new reel – a fantastic way to repurpose your content. Another update; once a reel is posted, Facebook will alternate between 4 different styles of captions within the first 30 minutes and decide which one attracts the most engagement and use that one.
28:11 – Fakespot chat, acquired earlier this year by Mozilla, is launching its first LLM (large language model), an AI tool that can help consumers as they shop by answering questions relating to a product.
31:53 – Elon Musk has launched Grok; his latest AI creation to rival ChatGPT, WriteSonic and others alike. The prototype is in its first two months of training and is only available to a select group of users before a wider release. Grok is modelled on “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” It is supposed to have “a bit of wit,” “a rebellious streak” and it should answer the “spicy questions” that other AI might dodge, according to a Saturday statement from xAI. source https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/05/elon-…
40:52 – As Elon continues to ensure X is ‘uncensored’, Katie Hopkins has had her account reinstated. Katie was banned from Twitter, as it was known then, for some pretty controversial opinions. Elon has evoked this to promote freedom of speech. This leads us to chat about the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of social media.
48:12 – Here’s where things get really weird and totally off-track. We all know Facebook is a place of community, and the local community pages are just brilliant. We chat about Monty, the missing Parrot, from Woodford Halse (stick with us!) Monty has been missing for a while and it seems the whole village, and us, are invested in this story. A hilarious way to finish off this week’s Live Lunch.
See you next week!
