Amanda’s Top Stats for May

Data Davies May 2021

I usually focus Data Davies on social media stats, but I wanted to mix things up a bit this month. After all, social media is part of your digital marketing strategy, and you need to have content worth talking about!

So, what content should you be creating? Are you blogging already, and if not, should you be? There are stacks of stats around blogging and why it should form a crucial part of your marketing strategy.

???? Marketers who prioritise blogging see 13-times the ROI of businesses that don’t.

? 80% of internet users interact with both social media sites and blogs.

? Blogs can result in a 434% increase in indexed pages and a 97% increase in indexed links (hello Google juice!).

? Companies with blogs produce an average of 67% more leads monthly than companies that don’t blog – wow, this one is hard to ignore and makes a case for blogging even stronger.

? Businesses that blog get 55% more website visitors than businesses that don’t.

? 40% of content marketers say original visuals, such as infographics, perform best in their articles.

? The average blog post is 1,236 words – at GU, we recommend anything over 600 words, so there is enough content to be indexed. Long-form articles also perform very well.

? 34% of bloggers say that updating content produces strong results, so if you have an existing blog with well-performing articles, look at what you can update and re-purpose.

? Articles with images get 94% more views than those with no visuals, so use your own photos or hop onto a free image site like Canva, Pexels or Pixabay for free stock images.

If you weren’t convinced about blogging before, you might be now – the data and those numbers speak for themselves!
