Amanda’s Top Stats for June
The hawk-eyed amongst you might remember a Data Davies covering the best times to post on social media. Well, as we come out of lockdown and since I wrote that piece over 7 months ago (where is time going!), I thought it worth revisiting.
Thanks to the team at Sprout Social, who shared their research on the best times to post on social media for engagement. Keep in mind that it differs from when most people are on the platform; it’s when users are most likely to react, comment or share your post.
Facebook – Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, between 9 am and 1 pm, are the best times to post, with Monday between 9 am and 12 pm also good. According to Sprout Social, weekends are the worst times to post.
Instagram – Weekdays from 11 am to 12 pm are best for engagement with the peak as Tuesday between 11 am and 2 pm. Like Facebook, the worst times to post are weekends.
LinkedIn – Tuesday to Thursday between 9 am and 12 pm are the best times to post to LinkedIn. As you would expect on a business platform, weekends don’t perform as well. (A side note that LinkedIn reported the best day to send an InMail is Monday).
Twitter – Wednesday between 9 am and 3 pm is the best time to tweet, while Tuesday to Thursday between 9 am and 11 am is.
As always, remember your business is unique. Weekends might work brilliantly for you if you are a consumer-facing business. Plus, with fewer businesses posting on weekends, there is less ‘noise’ to contend with. Experiment and use your analytics to help guide your social strategy.
